Protect vulnerable people from the effects of extreme weather

When South Australians were subjected to record-breaking heat waves lasting eight consecutive days, health facilities were stretched to their limits with over 600 heat-related hospital admissions.

In response to this extreme weather event, Red Cross immediately expanded its daily phone call service to elderly people living alone, from the usual 700 clients, to 6000 at-risk people.

Help people affected by floods

During 2008, unseasonal flooding destroyed many homes, a bridge and a clean water supply for villagers in northern Laos, crucial to the villagers' good health and survival.

Red Cross helped to restore the clean water supply, rebuild the bridge and provide local people with water and sanitation training. By donating today, you can help villages like these recover from extreme weather events and protect their health, livelihoods and wellbeing.
